According to old folktales, the lineage of modern vampires can be traced back to who we now refer to as the Ancients—primordial vampires born with a dormant mutation of the modern virus, considered similar yet fundamentally distinct from the one known in the present day. Although unsure, historical records pieced together through centuries of research, seem to suggest that the first generation was composed by no more than eight individuals. They seemed to possess extraordinary abilities, magnified even more by the bond they shared.
Unaware of the full extent of their powers, at first, the Ancients could only do so much but desperately study themselves. Experiment after experiment, failure followed by failure, they managed to survive under Sila’s guidance—the oldest of them and the most well documented. Sila brought order, stability, dedicating their energies to the study and understanding of their virus. And it bore fruit; one by one, the Ancients uncovered their gifts and, most crucially, recognised that these powers could be transmitted, albeit in diminished form, to the humans they chose to share their blood with. The virus had potential, a blessing in disguise.
Or a weapon meant to be handled carefully. Something between them fractured. Sila advocated for bestowing vampirism only upon those in need of a second chance at life, a gift, a smack in the face of God’s timing. Rukhen and their partner, Halia, perhaps blinded by their youth, believed vampirism was meant for those capable of surviving it, instead. Strong bodies and minds, that could become guards of the Ancients’ researches. The harmony that had kept them close once began to falter.
A division became inevitable but, for decades, the threat of a conflict seemed too distant to be fathomable. Perhaps that was why Halia’s assassination came as such surprise, igniting a conflict that had simmered beneath the surface for centuries. Without their lover, Rukhen declared war—a catastrophe that brought the vampire population to shambles with merciless efficiency. And with no victory. The Ancients fell one by one, dragging their direct progeny into death’s cold embrace with them. Only a handful of third-generation vampires survived, left to fend for themselves without guidance, forced to rebuild their society from the blood-soaked ashes of its former glory.
A Council was formed not long after the War. One descendant from each of the surviving families would serve as a representative, and only with complete and mutual agreement decisions could be truly made. What mattered most was not repeating their ancestors' mistakes and avoiding the prospect of another conflict at all costs. For decades, the Council worked diligently. With each new generation, the Ancients’ war became a distant memory and, then, nothing more than a myth.
However, if there can be one trait vampires might have kept from their long-lost humanity, is ineptitude. After some centuries the Council collapsed on itself in its mere attempt to show that, even without guidance, peace could be possible. During this period, Representatives hadn’t done much to truly regulate society. No clear laws were set, nor balance. Some Families had become powerful, rich, and much more vocal between the Council’s walls, while others had slowly begun to fade.
Sunlight flashed upon the vampire society in the form of a man. And in his brightness, the Council seemed to rise again from the darkness in which it was bound. A direct descendant of Brahm’s lineage, he was. Gideon had rejoined society after centuries of isolation, a punishment he had brought on himself to amend the war in which he had partook and failed to protect his Children. And vampires welcomed him again, bathing in the knowledge of a past that had seemed lost until his appearance. Swiftly, Gideon took on himself to lend his hand to the Council, offering his insight at first and, slowly, suggesting to reform its structure. His devotedness was unequivocal; perhaps an atonement for his past failures still haunting him like crows on carcasses, but nonetheless essential.
Gideon governed over the Council, tightening the bridles over their indolence until balance was no more a foolish ideal in the minds of the youth, but an undeniable reality. Finally, the vampire society had found its laws, and someone to convince it to follow them. Pieces of a perfect puzzle fell into their rightful places one after the other, and harmony seemed to be restored among the Families, granting them all freedom to prosper. Yet, can peace truly be bestowed on a society whose foundation has been built with bricks of blood? As the Council rose from the ashes of its tumultuous past, so did suspicion among some Families. One in particular, more vocal than others, under the guidance of Progenitor Andrea, who found themselves increasingly alienated by Gideon's leadership. Rightfully banned from the Council after challenging the Council’s authority, Andrea opted to form a gathering of their liking; the Researchers.
With the purpose to only be truthful to their kin, Andrea released records about the virus and the Ancients—granting their existence as undeniable to younger vampires who, until that moment, had considered them to be no more than a myth. Discontent blossomed quickly, Families incapable of bearing the idea that the Council, and more precisely Gideon, could deceive them and keep hidden such truths. The scandal, however, didn’t hit the Head of the Council as roughly as the Della Rocca’s Family had assumed.
Gideon was quick in his answers; vampires are predators by nature. As such, the morally corrupt would contort valuable and dangerous information for the worst, to unprecedented extent. Therefore, as to respect and protect the lives of those whom are not guilty or tempted by higher power through tasteless acts against their own kind, the Council had long made the decision to shield the public from such possible consequences, as well as avoid incomplete or inconclusive research that could lead to widespread misinformation, ensuring that only fully verified, accurate, and beneficial ones were communicated, thus protecting the integrity of scientific knowledge within their kin. Said decision reflected the Council’s unfaltering commitment to keeping vampires safe, from exterior malicious threats, as well as the dangers of contemptible acts performed within society. The Researchers were inevitably ousted from society, branded as dangerous, although some families still chose to separate themselves from the Council, bearing the consequences as they joined the Researchers’ mission.

This server is a LONG-RUNNING RP with a storyline that requires members to participate in plot drops and events. We don't need huge daily activity, but to be at least available during our plots — that will be planned every TWO TO THREE MONTHSActivity checks will be conducted ONCE A MONTH; however, it's rare for us to kick someone out due to inactivity, as we prefer to reward for activity instead.Naturally, HIATUS IS ALLOWED. We just need a heads-up and to know how long you'll be away! Keep in mind that long hiatuses may cause us some issues with our plots, so be mindful of us and other muns.*plotting requires regular communication; a consistent inability to respond could result in an activity strike
ii. ⦗ 𝗥𝗨𝗟𝗘 𝗧𝗪𝗢 ; 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗮 ⦘ Arguments between muns should be HANDLED PRIVATELY; the only drama that should be within the server is IN ROLEPLAY. Don’t vent your feelings on your private matters to a group that might be uncomfortable with the topics you bring up. As much as we’re sorry if you’re ever going through something, we’re also NOT PROFESSIONAL psychologists.*As a reminder, ooc drama is the fastest way in which you will be removed from the group. This is a place for writing and plotting, NOT a place for you to complain about your personal life.
ii. ⦗ 𝗥𝗨𝗟𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗘𝗘 ; 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗿 ⦘
We’ve been working on this project for over A YEAR, while the story has been in writing much longer - we care a lot about everything that we hope to share with you so please have respect for the work that has been done. This means using the channels correctly and selecting roles that apply to you, BEING COLLABORATIVE and open with the group, warning us if you’re going on HIATUS for a long period of time, and not taking inspiration without asking or crediting us. We’re always open to suggestions for channels, roles, plots, and pretty much anything that can help us improve your experience. You can do that in our SUGGESTION CHANNEL.
iv. ⦗ 𝗥𝗨𝗟𝗘 𝗙𝗜𝗩𝗘 ; 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 ⦘
As this is a LITERATE/LS ROLEPLAY SERVER, we do expect decent grammar and punctuation. This means that all your posts should have a minimum of three paragraphs, one-sentence paragraphs excluded. We would also appreciate it if you could avoid BUBBLE ROLEPLAYING (RPing with only a few of the same members) or other cliquey behavior.Keep in mind to tag any potentially triggering posts (e.g. tw: violence, violence tw, or violence cw), as well as any interactions including mature themes, and use a SPOILER TAG. Failure to do so would result in a strike.Don’t enter someone else's roleplay without permission, and use threads as specified in our rp channel. Please notify the admins if there are any issues.WE ALLOW PTK (permission to kill), but only if first DISCUSSED with players and staff.
specific rules
vi. ⦗ 𝗥𝗨𝗟𝗘 𝗦𝗜𝗫 ; 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘀 ⦘ Only original characters are accepted. Copying a character from canon media with some tweaks WON'T BE ALLOWED. We don't have a limit for the amount of characters you can make, however you have a limitation on how many you can send for verification based on your activity level — you will start with two free slot, and you are allowed to apply for a third character after reaching the @10・ghost level. Every other level comes with their bonuses and slots, so make sure to check them out in our rules channel. Our plot is open just for VAMPIRE CHARACTERS above 22 years of age. NPCs are free from any obligations and can be of any kind and of any age if their existence fits the lore. Again, keep in mind that they also need to be verified by the staff.
vii. ⦗ 𝗥𝗨𝗟𝗘 𝗦𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡 ; 𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 ⦘ Plots such as racism, homophobia, sexual assault, abuse, rape, incest, beastiality, pedophilia & grooming are BANNED. We understand that these elements can sometimes be incorporated into a character's BACKSTORY and we have no problem with that, as the server deals with dark topics anyway ― however, this is not an invitation to NOT TAG PROPERLY a post if you ever mention said themes. What we’re asking is to avoid using them AS PLOTS for active roleplays. We don't want to CONTROL YOUR PLOTS, but when other muns and their muses are involved, COMMUNICATION should be made as to whether that plot is okay with everyone. This can be done in our plotting channels.MAJOR PLOTS that may involve your character moving forward the story and AFFECTING OTHER CHARACTERS must be informed to the staff for approval (ie: death, major injuries, etc ). Please do not god mode/god play or manipulate characters or situations without prior consent and approval from all parties.
okay, we know; it's messy and you're probably confused. why are we using character slots if we're going to remove the limitation in the future? it's mostly to incentivize activity; we can't predict how many of you will actively participate, or for how long, but we want to keep it fair for everyone! it'll be just for a few months while we adjust everything, and then you'll be as free as you want with your imagination.
"seph !! i came up with a plot to suggest !! and what do you think about this for a new family??"
tell me !! i mean it when i say that i want to hear every single suggestion. we won't take everything, of course, but if it fits with the universe, we'll find a way to include it! we wish to keep the server running and interesting for as long as we can - however, we're still inexperienced when it comes to rpgs therefore any fresh suggestions will be hugely appreciated!we want you to feel free to be as creative as possible — all we ask for is some input into any ideas that could significantly alter the direction of the roleplay.
Also, some brief notes: while we suggest joining one of the already canonically-existent bloodlines, you're free to create a new one! Just ask everything in the Elucidations, MUN SERVICES sections and tell us your ideas!Plots for the whole story are welcome as well, same goes for events and challenges. Feel free to suggest everything you wish for, it'll always be welcome.Characters should also mostly be MORALLY GREY, as the plot centers around how none of the vampires' bloodlines are without fault. We would also like to see a balanced (and not stereotypical) representation of POC and LGBTQ+ characters.Last but not least, no Family has a specific ethnicity therefore don't feel limited with your faceclaims!
and regulations
In this server, you are allowed to use ONLY REAL-LIFE FACECLAIMS however please refrain from using models who are under 21, have asked to not be used for roleplay, are deceased, or problematic. You can't have the same faceclaim as someone else; if this happens, contact the staff and we’ll figure out together a new option. We allow ONE MAIN FACECLAIM per person. Shapeshifter vampires are allowed to have TWO MAIN FACECLAIMS (we want to keep it fair for everyone, and since we can’t have the same fc as someone else we don’t want to restrict too much the available options — therefore, you’re allowed to use art with credits). NPCs fcs can be *under 18, and they’re allowed to have digital faceclaims (credits are mandatory, failure to credit the original owner of the art you’re using will result in a strike) to, again, keep it fair for everyone. Please DO YOUR RESEARCH before choosing a faceclaim. Staff always tries to double-check and stay on top of the FCs widely considered problematic in the RP world, but we can’t possibly always know everything. There are plenty of lists of banned or problematic FCs out there (and googling “FC name problematic” typically brings up any issues), so please do a preliminary check on any FC you’re strongly considering.we DO NOT allow AI GENERATED art in our server.
